Step 3: Connect Your Dreams with Your Life

Step 3 Connect Your Dreams with Your Life

Step 3 of DREAMS 1-2-3

You break down the dream into story elements — settings, characters, symbols — and narrative components— action, reaction, resolution. That’s Step 1.

You use dream interpretation techniques — associate, simplify, amplify — and analyze the story for storytelling devices — metaphor, exaggeration, comparison-contrast. That’s Step 2.

Now you are ready to connect the dream with your life. In this step you will learn how everything in a dream interconnects symbolically and how it connects with you, the dreamer. You have three primary ways:

  1. Context
  2. Connect the dots
  3. Reflect on your life

An Ongoing Process

Dreams 1-2-3: Remember, Interpret, and Live Your Dreams

“Live your dreams” is Step 3 in my first book about dreams.

Step 3 continues beyond the interpretation process as you find resolution and apply what you learn from your dreams. It’s ongoing. The meaning of your dreams unfolds over time as events play out and you gain the perspective to fully understand them.

You take a hand in making your dreams come true. Step 3 is where you live your dreams by making them part of your daily life. The time and attention you give builds a relationship of trust and mutual understanding with your dreaming mind, and it will reward you with richer dreams and more insights into that part of your life.

Dreaming truly is an experience unto itself. It’s like living another life — or many lives — simultaneously.

In my book Dreams 1-2-3 I go more into how to make your dreams come true and work with them in creative ways. Here’s an excerpt:
